Introduction:
David Adebayo, a 50-year-old African resident living in Hong Kong, is currently facing significant frustration after a recent incident at a local telecommunications store. Despite his long-term residency and financial stability, he experienced statistical discrimination and racial profiling when attempting to sign up for a routine mobile service plan, where staff made biased assumptions about his background. In this simulation, you will engage with David to explore his experience of interpersonal and systemic bias, assess the psychological impact of being profiled, and practice cultural humility to build professional trust with him.
