Introduction:
Arif Rahman is a 26-year-old registered social worker (RSW) of Bangladeshi descent who was born and raised in Hong Kong. Professionally qualified and fluent in Cantonese, Arif recently applied for a Master of Social Work program at a local university. During the admission interview, however, he faced subtle yet painful racial microaggressions from the interviewers, who made patronizing assumptions about his background and language proficiency. In this simulation, you will engage in a peer-level professional dialogue with Arif, help him process this identity trauma, and practice anti-oppressive practice to build trust.
